Rasuwa flood: 626 bodies recovered, 2,426 still missing so far



KATHMANDU: The bodies of 626 people reported missing following the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa have been recovered as of 10 am Saturday.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 2,426 people remain unaccounted for. Meanwhile, a team of 82 security personnel has been mobilized to rescue people trapped inside a tunnel of the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project following the Bhotekoshi flood in Nepal’s Rasuwa district.

According to the Military Public Relations and Information Directorate, the team, comprising 62 personnel from the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, has been deployed in the Trishuli 3A tunnel area for the rescue operation.

Rescue operations have been underway in the area since Friday under the command of the Nepal Army.

The Directorate said more than 6,700 Nepal Army personnel have been deployed in the affected districts. They are coordinating search and rescue operations, providing emergency medical treatment to the injured and distributing relief materials.
