KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Administration Office has introduced a one-stop system for collecting and distributing relief materials for flood victims in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
The office issued a notice on Saturday urging organizations, individuals, companies, clubs and other citizens in Kathmandu willing to support the flood victims to provide relief materials, including food, clothing, utensils and other essential household items.
Information Officer Khimraj Bhusal said the arrangement was made to immediately collect and manage relief materials following the extensive damage caused by Wednesday’s floods in riverbank areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other affected areas.
“Relief materials collected in Kathmandu will be received through a one-stop system at the District Administration Office. The materials will then be managed and delivered to the affected people in coordination with and under the guidance of security agencies in the respective districts, security agencies in Kathmandu directly involved in relief and rescue operations, and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority,” he said.
Sujan Kumari Bardeva, an administrative officer at the Kathmandu District Administration Office, has been designated as the contact person for the collection and coordination of relief materials. She can be contacted at 9841798542.
The office also said those wishing to provide cash assistance should deposit the money only into the official account of the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund or use the QR code provided by the office.
The office said the one-stop system has been introduced to prevent duplication in the distribution of relief materials and ensure that assistance reaches people genuinely affected by the floods.
