Indian national arrested with 50 grams of brown heroin in Jhapa



JHAPA: Police have arrested an Indian national from the Kallamari area of Jhapa Rural Municipality-3 with approximately 50 grams of brown heroin.

The arrested individual has been identified as 22-year-old MD Farooq, a resident of Dhantola Mohmari in Kishanganj district of India.

According to police, a joint team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau Branch Office, Kakarbhitta, and Police Post Taghandubba seized the brown heroin while it was being smuggled from India into Nepal on a motorcycle bearing registration number BR 37 AB 5859.

Ranjan Awa, information officer and deputy superintendent of police at the District Police Office, Jhapa, said that Farooq has been taken into custody along with the seized drugs and the motorcycle, and further investigation is underway.
