Landslides, floods and rain disrupt traffic on highways

KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall, landslides, and flooding have disrupted vehicular movement on major highways and road sections in several districts across the country.

According to Nepal Police, some roads have been completely blocked, while night-time vehicle movement has been restricted on several sections due to the risk of floods and landslides.

Similarly, all types of vehicles have been prohibited from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am on Kanti Lokpath. Vehicular movement has come to a complete halt on the Mechi Highway at Ilam Municipality-9 after the road became muddy due to rain.

In Dolakha, the Lamosangu-Ramechhap road section at Kirnetar in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-5 has been cut off after the Sunkoshi River eroded part of the road.

The Pasang Lhamu Highway at Khalte in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 of Rasuwa has also been completely blocked after the Trishuli River damaged the road.

In Lalitpur, a dry landslide has completely obstructed Kanti Lokpath at Bagmati Rural Municipality-3.
