KATHMANDU: The government has abolished excise duty on 360 items.

Presenting the annual budget for the fiscal year 2026/27 in Parliament on Friday, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle said there had been growing concern that the income tax imposed on salaried workers was among the highest in South Asia.

Through the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, the government has provided relief to working citizens by widening the tax exemption threshold.
