VAT refund to be made automatic

KATHMANDU: The government has announced that value added tax (VAT) refunds will now be processed automatically.

Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27 in the Federal Parliament.

The move comes in response to long-standing demands from private sector entrepreneurs and business owners, who had been calling for a simplified and automated VAT refund mechanism to reduce delays and improve efficiency.
