KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balen Shah is set to attend today’s parliamentary session during the presentation of the budget for fiscal year 2026/27 by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle.
However, the Prime Minister is not scheduled to address the House.
According to a member of the Prime Minister’s secretariat, Shah is currently preparing to leave the Prime Minister’s Office for the Parliament building.
“The Prime Minister is getting ready to head to the House from the Prime Minister’s Office. He will be present in today’s session,” a secretariat member told Khabarhub. “We have already informed concerned authorities about this.”
A member of the Speaker’s secretariat also confirmed that they had received information regarding the Prime Minister’s attendance.
Although Shah was appointed Prime Minister on March 28, he has yet to deliver a speech in Parliament. During the presentation of the government’s policies and programs for fiscal year 2026/27 by President Ram Chandra Paudel, Shah had attended the House briefly before leaving.
Opposition parties had repeatedly questioned his absence from Parliament in subsequent sessions. Today’s session, however, is expected to see his presence during the budget presentation.
