KASKI: Land subsidence has begun appearing in different parts of Pokhara even before the onset of this year’s monsoon season, raising concerns among local residents.
At around 2 am on Friday, a section of road, along with the courtyard and part of a house, caved in at Nadipur area of Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 3.
According to locals, the sudden collapse created a sinkhole measuring nearly 10 meters. A drinking water pipeline laid for water distribution in Pokhara was also damaged after the ground gave way, increasing the risk in the area.
Residents have expressed growing concern as land subsidence has occurred repeatedly in the locality.
Chief District Officer of Kaski, Rudradevi Sharma, visited the affected site and warned that further damage and disaster risks could increase in the area.
She advised local ward representatives to consult technical experts and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of the affected zone.
