Ujyalo Nepal Party, Hamro Party Nepal announce merger



KATHMANDU: The Ujyalo Nepal Party and Hamro Party Nepal have formally merged following the signing of a seven-point agreement on Thursday.

The agreement was signed at the central office of Ujyalo Nepal Party in Tripureshwor by the party’s General Secretary, Dharma Chaudhary, and Hamro Party Nepal’s General Secretary, Darbiram Pariyar.

Under the agreement, the two parties have committed to jointly advancing the principles of the people’s movement, social justice, inclusiveness and proportional representation as their shared political agenda. They have also pledged to work together in the fight against corruption and poor governance.

The agreement further states that both parties will undertake policy and practical initiatives to eliminate caste-based discrimination, untouchability, humiliation and social exclusion faced by the Dalit community.

In addition, the parties have agreed to advocate for proportional representation of the Dalit community in state institutions and party structures in line with its population share, according to the agreement.
