Nearly 2,000 drivers penalised in traffic crackdown, over Rs 1 million collected



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,957 drivers were taken into action for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 1,078,500 in revenue for the state.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 23 individuals for driving under the influence of intoxicants, 144 for illegal ride-sharing, 185 for violating traffic signals, and 181 for speeding.

Similarly, 87 drivers were penalised for failing to follow lane discipline, 91 for unnecessary honking in prohibited areas, 111 for roadside parking violations, 93 for driving on one-way roads, and 1,042 for other traffic offences.
