China to provide Rs 11 billion grant for Ring Road expansion second phase



KATHMANDU: The government of China has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs 11 billion for the second phase of the Ring Road expansion project in Kathmandu.

According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development, the agreement was signed on Wednesday by Minister Sunil Lamsal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming at the ministry.

As per the agreement, the Ring Road will be expanded from Kalanki to Basundhara. The first phase of the project had already been completed from Koteshwor to Kalanki.

Speaking at the event, Minister Lamsal expressed commitment to ensuring smooth implementation of the project, stating that any issues arising during execution would be promptly addressed.

He also noted that the government has prioritized north-south connectivity and expressed confidence that Chinese investment in Nepal’s infrastructure sector would further increase.

Ambassador Maoming said that more Chinese investors are willing to come to Nepal if a conducive investment environment is ensured.
