Earned Rs 187.5 million from autobiography sales: Mahabir Pun

KATHMANDU: Independent lawmaker Mahabir Pun has earned Rs 187.5 million from the sale of his autobiography, according to the property details he made public on Wednesday.

Pun, who represents Myagdi in the House of Representatives, revealed that his autobiographical book titled Mahabir Pun has sold 250,000 copies so far.

As per the disclosed figures, the book is priced at Rs 750 per copy, generating total earnings of Rs 187.5 million to date.

Pun stated that the entire amount collected from book sales has been deposited into the bank accounts of the National Innovation Center and the Birgunj Agricultural Tools Factory.

“I have deposited all proceeds from the sale of my autobiography into the accounts of the National Innovation Center and the Birgunj Agricultural Tools Factory,” Pun said. “I will continue to deposit future earnings from book sales into the same accounts.”

He has been traveling across the country to sell the book, reaching most districts in the Himalayan, hilly, and Tarai regions.

Despite being elected on March 5, Pun has continued selling books in public spaces, including city streets, particularly when parliamentary proceedings remain inactive.

Pun has frequently gone viral on social media, often drawing attention due to interactions and occasional disputes with supporters and youths during his book-selling campaigns.

A former education minister in the interim government, Pun had resigned from his position after key legislation he initiated stalled in the Cabinet. He later returned to his home district Myagdi to contest the elections as an independent candidate.
