Escaped prisoner arrested in Rupandehi



BHAIRAHAWA: Police in Rupandehi have arrested a prisoner who had escaped custody after being convicted in a vehicular homicide case.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Chand, information officer at the District Police Office Rupandehi, 26-year-old Ajay Tharu was apprehended on Tuesday from Sakhuwani in Tilottama Municipality-15.

Police said Tharu had absconded during incidents of vandalism and arson at Jagannath Dewal Prison on September 9, 2025. Following his arrest, he has been sent back to prison after completing the necessary legal procedures, the police office stated.
