Western disturbance to trigger storms, gusty winds this evening

KATHMANDU: Nepal is bracing for rough weather from this evening, as forecasts point to powerful winds, lightning, and rain affecting multiple provinces.

According to meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari, areas likely to be affected include Dadeldhura and Doti in Sudurpaschim Province; Bardiya, Banke, Dang, and Arghakhanchi in Lumbini Province; Dhanusha and Bara in Madhesh Province; as well as Morang and nearby districts in Koshi Province.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology stated that the weather system is expected to begin influencing conditions from around 5:45 pm on Wednesday and may persist until approximately 7:45 am on Thursday.

The changing weather is attributed to a western disturbance moving eastward, which could trigger widespread rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, gusty winds, and hail in several regions.

Authorities have advised the public to take necessary precautions, as the adverse weather may disrupt daily life, agriculture, transportation, and electricity services.
