Rabi Lamichhane’s next court hearing scheduled for April 27

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has scheduled the next hearing for Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane on April 27.

According to District Court Information Officer Deepak Kumar Shrestha, the date was fixed in relation to Lamichhane’s case in the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud matter. Lamichhane visited the court today to confirm the schedule.

The case stems from complaints filed by 690 savers of Swarnalaxmi Multi-Purpose Cooperative, totaling 93 separate complaints. Lamichhane is accused of embezzling cooperative funds, with a formal case lodged against him in the Kathmandu District Court.

The Gorkha Media Network, associated with Lamichhane, is alleged to have illegally taken NPR 57.898 million from the cooperative. The government’s legal team has claimed the same amount from him.

Lamichhane, who is currently out on bail, is also an elected member of parliament from Chitwan-2, winning in the March 5 elections.
