Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon scheduled for May



JUMLA: The seventh edition of the Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon is set to take place on May 9, 2026.

Organized by the Karnali Sports Club Jumla, the marathon will start from Khalanga Bazaar, the district headquarters of Jumla, according to the club’s president, Saroj Shahi. The event aims to promote the natural beauty and adventure tourism of the Karnali region.

Employees, industrialists, businesspeople, and other interested participants can take part in a five-kilometer race, with a registration fee of Rs 500. Children under 18 can participate in the ten-kilometer race free of charge.

The registration fee for the 51-kilometer race is Rs 3,000 for local runners and Rs 5,000 for others.

Prize money has been announced for all categories. In the five-kilometer race, first place will receive Rs 5,000, second place Rs 3,000, and third place Rs 2,000. In the ten-kilometer race, winners will receive Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000, and Rs 5,000 respectively.

For the 51-kilometer race, first place will be awarded Rs 100,000, second place Rs 75,000, third place Rs 50,000, and fourth and fifth places Rs 20,000 each.

The club has stated that participants must register by May 3 to take part in the competition.
