Domestic flights resume after fog disrupts operations across airports

KATHMANDU: Domestic flights that were disrupted since early morning due to dense fog and mist across Kathmandu and several other parts of the country have now resumed.

According to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) General Manager Tek Nath Sitoula, flights that had been grounded at airports including Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Rajbiraj, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Surkhet and Tumlingtar have gradually restarted as weather conditions improved from the afternoon.

Sitoula said that except for Bharatpur, Tumlingtar and Nepalgunj, domestic flight operations have resumed at other airports.

“The weather started improving from the afternoon, after which flight take-offs and landings gradually began,” he said.

Dense fog since early morning had significantly reduced visibility, affecting regular domestic flight schedules and causing delays and cancellations at multiple airports.
