Snowfall and rain likely in high hills and mountainous areas

KATHMANDU: Weather conditions across the country have turned unstable as a western low-pressure system continues to influence Nepal, bringing cloud cover along with the possibility of rainfall and snowfall in several high hilly and mountainous regions.

The hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces are fully cloudy, while the rest of the country remains partly cloudy. Light rainfall has been recorded in some areas of Bagmati Province and at one or two locations in Gandaki Province.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, fog is likely to develop in many parts of the Terai this afternoon. The high hills and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will remain partly cloudy, while weather conditions elsewhere are expected to stay mainly clear.

There is a possibility of light snowfall and rain at one or two places in the high hills and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Similarly, fog may occur in some parts of the Terai tonight. Partly cloudy conditions are expected in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear.

The Division has urged all concerned to remain cautious, as snowfall and rainfall could affect daily life, tourism, health, and air and road transportation.
