KATHMANDU: Police have arrested an Indian national at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) after finding 422.5 grams of a substance resembling gold in his possession.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajkumar Silwal, spokesperson for the Airport Security Office, identified the arrested individual as 46-year-old Aslam Shaukat of Delhi, India. Shaukat had arrived in Kathmandu from Mumbai on an IndiGo Airlines flight.
According to police, Shaukat was seen walking suspiciously at the airport last night. During a subsequent inspection, police found the substance concealed inside his underwear and wrapped in plastic.
Spokesperson Silwal said Shaukat has been taken into custody and handed over to the Gaushala Police Circle for further investigation.
