HUMLA: Continuous rain and snowfall have disrupted normal life in Humla. Telephone and internet services have also been affected in most areas, including the district headquarters, Simkot.
Communication services were disrupted after solar power systems installed at high-altitude telephone and internet towers stopped functioning. The disruption has made it difficult to coordinate with local authorities, security agencies and other concerned offices to gather information about the extent of the damage.
Several school buildings have reportedly been damaged by the rain, while roads have been blocked at various locations in the district. Simkot has also received snowfall amid the continuous rain.
The Hilsa checkpoint has been completely blocked due to snowfall, according to local authorities.
