KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has dropped by more than 2 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours.
According to Meteorologist Binu Maharjan of the Weather Forecasting Division, the Valley recorded a minimum temperature of 15.3 degrees Celsius in the initial measurement at 5:45 am on Monday. The minimum temperature was 17.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Maharjan said the official measurement to be taken at 8:45 am could show the minimum temperature slightly below 15.3 degrees Celsius.
“Yesterday, there was no sunshine. As the maximum temperature was relatively low, the minimum temperature also declined,” she said.
The maximum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley was 23.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday. According to Maharjan, temperatures have also fallen somewhat across the country, including in the Kathmandu Valley, following two to three consecutive days of rainfall.
She added that the weather is gradually becoming colder as the monsoon withdrawal from Nepal approaches and the influence of westerly winds begins to increase.
