Foreign Minister Khanal holds telephone conversation with Australian counterpart



KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong held a telephone conversation today on the catastrophic flash floods that have affected Nepal.

The conversation focused on the loss of human lives and physical infrastructure, as well as ongoing search, rescue and relief efforts in flood-hit areas, including Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.

Minister Wong expressed deep sorrow, on behalf of the Australian government, over the tremendous loss of lives and pledged all possible support to Nepal during this hour of tragedy.

In response, Minister Khanal expressed gratitude to the Australian government and people for their solidarity and support. He also thanked the Australian government for the goodwill it has shown towards Nepal during this difficult time.

Khanal informed his Australian counterpart that the Government of Nepal was making every possible effort to search for missing persons, rescue those trapped and provide relief to survivors.
