KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced that it will step up efforts to support the rescue, treatment and relief of people affected by the Bhotekoshi flood.
Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol said the metropolis would provide necessary assistance after meeting flood-affected people receiving treatment at various hospitals and the family members of those who remain missing.
Acting Mayor Dangol, accompanied by her team, visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and the National Trauma Center to assess the treatment arrangements for the injured and gather information about their condition and other needs.
Dangol said the necessary procedures would be initiated immediately to facilitate the rescue, treatment and relief of disaster victims.
“There is a national crisis at present. At such a time, efforts are being made to save the lives of citizens, rescue the injured and provide relief. We stand with those who have lost their family members and relatives,” she said.
During her visit to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Dangol inquired about the condition of patients undergoing treatment and the availability of essential medicines and medical equipment.
Deputy Director of the hospital, Dr Pawan Raj Chalise, said additional medicines and other essential supplies were needed as emergency health services had increased following the disaster.
Dangol also visited the National Trauma Center and took an update on the condition of flood victims receiving treatment there. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Rudra Marasini briefed her on the condition of the patients.
On the occasion, Dangol pledged to extend all possible assistance to the injured and the families of those who remain missing and are receiving treatment at the hospitals.
