KATHMANDU: Mangal Bahadur Shahi, the parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) in the Karnali Provincial Assembly, has been appointed chief minister of Karnali Province.
Shahi submitted his claim to form the government at the Office of the Provincial Chief in Surkhet on Tuesday with the support of the CPN-UML. UML Chief Whip Tek Raj Pachhai was also present during the submission.
Provincial Chief Yagya Raj Joshi appointed Shahi as chief minister later the same day.
The 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly currently comprises 14 lawmakers from the NCP and 10 from the CPN-UML.
