LALITPUR: The driver of a jeep carrying employees of SOS Balgram (Children’s Villages Nepal) died after the vehicle met with an accident in Lalitpur last night. Five other passengers were injured.
According to police, a Scorpio jeep (BA A 4639) traveling from Gotikhel in Mahankal Rural Municipality-3 toward Chapagaun met with an accident at Katanbhanjyang in Mahankal Rural Municipality-2.
The driver, Shakti Prasad Adhikari, 54, of Koteshwor, Kathmandu, died in the accident. Police said the Scorpio plunged about 50 meters off the road.
The vehicle belonged to SOS Balgram, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, and was carrying office employees. There were six people in the jeep, including the driver.
Of the five injured, four are undergoing treatment at B&B Hospital in Gwarko, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-17, while one is receiving treatment at Manikhel Health Post in Mahankal Rural Municipality-2.
The injured have been identified as Sasmita Khatiwada, 39, of Koteshwor, Kathmandu; Bharat Poudel, 35, of Gaindakot, Nawalparasi, currently residing in Kathmandu; Dina Sonaha, 36, of Bardiya, currently residing in Kathmandu; Devendra Raj Pandey, 26, of Nuwakot, currently residing in Kathmandu; and Nishan Maharjan, 39, of Kirtipur Municipality-5, Kathmandu.
