Nepali Congress decides to strengthen its role in federal parliament



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has decided to make its role in the Federal Parliament more effective and impactful.

A meeting of the party’s parliamentary committee held on Thursday discussed upcoming parliamentary strategies, the national budget for fiscal year 2026/27, and completing the structure of the parliamentary party working committee.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Chief Whip Basana Thapa said detailed discussions were held on the upcoming budget to be presented on Friday.

She said the main agenda of the meeting was to strengthen and make the party’s parliamentary role more effective in the legislature.

According to her, the meeting also discussed filling vacant positions in the parliamentary party working committee.

Similarly, discussions were held on appointing coordinators from the party to study and coordinate with parliamentary subject committees.

Thapa also informed that the meeting discussed reports that the Prime Minister would not deliver a speech on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations.
