Government decides to form high-level committee to investigate September 9 incident

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to form a high-level committee to investigate the incident that occurred on September 9, 2025.

The decision was included in the 100-point governance reform agenda approved by the cabinet during its meeting on Friday under Prime Minister Balen Shah.

The incident took place during the Gen Z protest on September 8 and 9, which resulted in significant human and property losses on September 9, 2025.

Earlier, a probe commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki had prepared a report focusing on events related to September 8, 2025. However, the commission recommended further investigation into the incidents that occurred on September 9, 2025.

Based on this recommendation, the cabinet has decided to establish a separate high-level committee to conduct a detailed investigation into the events of that day.
