Heavy police deployment at residence of probe commission chief Karki

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has deployed additional security at the residence of Gauri Bahadur Karki, the head of the commission formed to investigate the incidents of September 8 and 9, 2025.

Security has been tightened around Karki’s residence in Gundu, with a large number of police personnel stationed in the area.

Authorities are also preparing to move Karki to an army barracks to ensure his safety amid rising political tensions.

Earlier, Home Minister Sudan Gurung held a meeting with the chiefs of security agencies at Singha Durbar to discuss the security situation.

The developments come after police arrested former prime minister KP Sharma Oli and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak on Saturday morning.

Following Oli’s arrest, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) announced nationwide protest programmes.
