Israeli strike on Iranian girls’ school kills 57, injures 60

KATHMANDU: Tensions in the Middle East have escalated into open conflict as the United States and Israel reportedly launched joint attacks on multiple military and strategic sites in Iran early Saturday morning.

In retaliation, Iran is said to have fired hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israel and US military bases in the region, further intensifying the situation.

Amid the escalating violence, an Israeli missile reportedly struck a primary girls’ school in Minab city of Hormozgan Province, southern Iran. According to Iran’s state news agency Islamic Republic News Agency, at least 57 people were killed in the attack, while 60 others sustained serious injuries.

Provincial Governor Mohammad Radmehr said that 53 students remain buried under the rubble of the school building, and rescue operations are ongoing.
