Light rain and snowfall likely in Himalayan regions today



KATHMANDU: A western low-pressure system is currently having a partial impact on Nepal’s upper atmosphere, influencing weather conditions across several provinces.

According to the Weather Forecast Division, the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are generally cloudy at present, while the remaining hilly and mountainous areas of the country are partly cloudy. The Terai region is experiencing mainly clear weather.

This afternoon, thunderstorms are likely at some places in the Terai. The Division said Koshi Province’s hilly and Himalayan areas will remain mostly cloudy, while other hilly regions across the country will see partly cloudy conditions. The Terai is expected to remain largely clear.

There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few locations in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in the Himalayan regions of other provinces. Similarly, light rain with thunder and lightning may occur at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki.

Tonight, cold conditions are expected in some parts of the Terai. The Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces will remain mostly cloudy, while other Himalayan and hilly areas will be partly cloudy.

The rest of the country is forecast to experience mainly clear weather. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is possible at one or two places in the Himalayan areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
