Local representatives from rival parties join Nepali Congress in Sarlahi-4

SARLAHI: The Nepali Congress has seen a surge in new entrants from various political parties after party General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa filed his candidacy for the House of Representatives from Sarlahi constituency No. 4.

To support Congress candidate Thapa, several leaders, including a provincial assembly candidate and ward chairpersons from Godaita Municipality, have joined the Nepali Congress.

Krishna Kumar Kushwaha, a provincial assembly candidate from Sarlahi-4 (B) representing the Bahujan Party, along with four ward chairpersons, formally joined the Nepali Congress at a program held in Sarlahi on Wednesday. They were welcomed into the party by Congress leader Gagan Thapa.

Those joining the party include Ward Chairperson Sujit Mahato of Godaita Municipality Ward No. 1, Ajay Prasad Shah of Ward No. 2, Prakash Gupta of Ward No. 5, and Bishwanath Pandit of Ward No. 11. They pledged their support to Thapa in the upcoming election.

Ward Chairpersons Mahato (Ward No. 1) and Shah (Ward No. 2) were elected from the Nepal Communist Party, Gupta from the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), and Pandit from the CPN-UML. In addition, JSP leader Mukesh Yadav from Basbariya and ward member Lalu Mansur have also joined the Nepali Congress.

The new entrants said they joined the Nepali Congress as Thapa, whom they described as a leader with a clear vision for national development, is contesting from their constituency. Earlier, independent candidate Mahendra Yadav from Sarlahi-4 had also joined the Nepali Congress.
