Moderate snowfall and rain likely in high hills and mountains

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast that parts of the country, especially the high hills and mountainous regions, may experience moderate snowfall and rain due to the influence of a western low-pressure system.

The Department reported that the high hills and mountainous regions will be completely cloudy this afternoon, while the remaining hilly areas and Terai will be mostly cloudy. Moderate snowfall and rain are expected in some parts of the high hills and mountainous regions.

Moderate rainfall is likely in parts of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while light rainfall may occur in some hilly areas of Bagmati, Madhes, and Koshi provinces, as well as in one or two places in the Terai of Koshi province.

Tonight, the hilly and mountainous regions are expected to be partly cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience clear weather. Light snowfall and rain may occur in one or two places in the high hills and mountains of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The Department has urged the public to exercise caution, as snowfall and rain may affect daily life, tourism, health, and air and road transport.
