KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has proposed establishing an all-party mechanism to coordinate relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts following natural disasters in the country.
Speaking at an all-party meeting held at the RSP parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Thursday, Lamichhane said disaster-response efforts would be more effective if all political parties worked through a common mechanism.
“Let’s establish an all-party committee, whether parliamentary or otherwise, to coordinate everything from relief and rescue to rehabilitation. This would make it easier for the government to take necessary decisions,” he said.
Lamichhane also urged political parties to channel their disaster-response support through the government’s relief fund, describing it as a one-stop mechanism. He called on all parties to unite behind the government’s relief and rescue efforts during times of disaster.
