Rasuwa floods: 162 bodies recovered so far



KATHMANDU: As many as 162 bodies have been recovered from various parts of the country following Wednesday’s devastating floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa district.

Of the total, 64 bodies were recovered in Chitwan, 27 in Dhading, 26 in Nawalparasi East, 20 in Gorkha, 12 in Nuwakot, nine in Tanahun, and two each in Rasuwa and Nawalparasi West.

Meanwhile, 28 police personnel from the Area Police Office Timure and various police posts in Rasuwa remain missing following the floods.

According to the latest details, 3,398 police personnel have been mobilized for search and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas.

Of the 23 personnel stationed at the Area Police Office Timure, contact has been established with 13, while 10 remain missing. Similarly, one of the nine personnel at Police Post Rasuwagadhi, five of eight at Syafubesi, three of eight at the Temporary Police Post Mailung, nine of 10 at Betrawati, and five of six at Haku have been accounted for.

Meanwhile, 41 people injured in the floods are receiving treatment at various hospitals. Of them, 20 are being treated at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, four at Trauma Center, three at Bir Hospital, nine at Trishuli Hospital, three at Norvic Hospital, and one each at Birendra Sainik Hospital and Green City Hospital.

The search for missing police personnel and other citizens has been intensified, while security agencies continue relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.
