KATHMANDU: A woman who attempted self-immolation in Boudha earlier this week has died while undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Salu Gurung, a resident of Temal Rural Municipality-3 in Kavrepalanchok who had been living in Boudha.
According to police, Gurung allegedly poured petrol over herself and set herself on fire on the night of July 20 (Shrawan 4) in the parking area behind her snack shop.
She was initially taken by her husband to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu before being referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for specialised treatment.
Hospital Director Dr Kiran Nakarmi said Gurung, who had sustained burns to 25–30 per cent of her body, died during treatment. Police are investigating the incident.
