KATHMANDU: Six years after the formation of the National Defence University Infrastructure Development Committee, the draft of the ‘Bill on Establishment and Management of National Defence University’ has been prepared.

The Ministry of Defence has stated that the draft has been prepared and consultations have been held with the concerned agencies.

The progress report of the Ministry for the month of Jetha states that the ‘Bill on Establishment and Management of National Defence University’ is in the process of being sent to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for revision as per the consensus reached after taking feedback from the Ministry of Education and Sports, University Grants Commission and Ministry of Finance.

It may be noted that the Infrastructure Development Committee had been formed to prepare the necessary physical, institutional and legal arrangements for the establishment, operation and management of the university.

The National Defense University is being established with the active participation of the Nepal Army for the study, teaching and research on national security and defense matters.
