Worker killed after being hit by tipper at Myagdi hydropower project site



KATHMANDU: Aworker died after being hit by a tipper truck at the Myagdi Khola Hydropower Project site in Ratakhola, Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality–4 of Myagdi district on Friday morning.

According to the District Police Office, Myagdi, the accident occurred when a tipper (Ba Pra 01-004 Ka 1377) was reversing inside the project site and struck a pedestrian worker.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Bhim Bahadur Sarki from Laljhadi Rural Municipality–4 of Kanchanpur, sustained serious injuries in the incident.

He was rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Beni for treatment, where doctors declared him dead, said Police Inspector Sagar Timsina of the District Police Office, Myagdi.

Police have taken the tipper driver, 30-year-old Rajesh Ghalan of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality–3 in Makwanpur, into custody for further investigation.

The body has been sent to Dhaulagiri Hospital in Baglung for postmortem examination, police added.
