RSP clarifies no support for groups or unions within civil administration

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has stated that it does not support any groups, campaigns, or union-like mechanisms formed within the civil administration.

Issuing a statement on Friday, General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti urged civil servants and stakeholders not to be misled by individuals or groups using the party’s name to advance their own interests.

“The Rastriya Swatantra Party has no affiliation, support, or involvement with any group, campaign, or union-style mechanism formed within the civil administration. We sincerely appeal to employees and stakeholders not to be confused if anyone attempts to misuse the party’s name or leadership for personal gain,” the statement said.

The party reiterated that, since its establishment, it has maintained a clear position that public administration should remain free from political interference, and be professional and accountable to the people.

It also recalled its commitment, made during the recent general elections, to strengthen the civil service by ensuring neutrality, fairness, and professionalism, while improving public service delivery and development management.

The RSP said its attention had recently been drawn to reports of various groups or campaigns operating within the civil service, with some allegedly attempting to associate such activities with the party and its leadership.

Reaffirming its stance, the party emphasized that civil servants should be guided solely by public service and professionalism. It stated that influencing administrative mechanisms in the name of any political party or power center goes against its principles.

The party further underscored its commitment to a merit-based system, stressing that civil servants should remain accountable only to the state and the public.

It also called for an end to past practices of politicizing the administration, including intimidation, fear, and patronage-based functioning. The party urged all civil servants to remain neutral, impartial, and responsible, and to serve the public without influence from any political party or group.
