Home Minister Gurung vows action over words, calls for enforcement of Karki Commission Report

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Home Minister Sudan Gurung has emphasized that the report of the Gen-Z Movement Inquiry Commission must be implemented immediately.

After assuming office at the Home Ministry on Friday, Gurung stated that the Karki Commission report would be fully enforced. “As per the Prime Minister’s decision regarding the Gen-Z protests, it must be implemented immediately. No one will be exempted from this,” he said.

The government had established an inquiry commission under former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki to investigate the Gen-Z protests that occurred on September 8 and 9, 2025. Outgoing Prime Minister Sushila Karki had already decided to implement the commission’s findings, and Minister Gurung reaffirmed that the process would begin without delay.

He stressed that the primary responsibility for implementing the report rests with the Home Ministry. “The Home Ministry takes the first responsibility for implementing the report. I will instruct the heads of all security agencies to act accordingly,” he said.

Minister Gurung also emphasized improving public service delivery, calling for the effective implementation of a one-door system so that services can be accessed by submitting applications at a single point.

In addition, he warned that immediate action will be taken against those who accept bribes and urged the public to report any instances of corruption to the police.

“I will focus on action rather than words. I will not just talk, I will act and deliver results,” Gurung affirmed.
