Amaresh Singh excluded from cabinet after ministry preference

KATHMANDU: Amaresh Singh has been removed from the final list of ministers after expressing his preference for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, according to sources.

Prime Minister Balen Shah has assigned Sunil Lamsal to the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ministry. Balen Shah will personally oversee the Defense and Industry Ministries.

Ranjit Jha, personal secretary to Singh, said the minister had declined the Industry Ministry, citing lack of expertise in the sector. “He prefers to serve as a parliamentarian rather than take the Industry Ministry,” Jhaka said.

Reports indicate that Singh is now seeking either the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is in ongoing discussions with top party leaders regarding his position.
