Western system to bring rain across Nepal today

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has reported a partial influence of a western low-pressure system, along with local winds, affecting weather conditions across the country.

Due to this system, cloudy skies, rainfall, and snowfall have been forecast in several regions. At present, weather conditions are generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas, including Sudurpaschim Province, while most parts of the Terai are experiencing mainly clear skies.

Light to moderate rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, are occurring in some areas of the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in one or two places in similar regions of Koshi Province.

According to the Division, the weather this afternoon will remain mostly cloudy in mountainous regions, generally cloudy in the hills, and partly cloudy in the Terai.

There is a likelihood of moderate rainfall and snowfall, along with thunder, lightning, wind, and hail, in many hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in some areas of other provinces. Moderate rainfall is also possible in parts of the Terai.

Tonight, the Himalayan region is expected to remain mostly cloudy, while hilly areas, including Koshi and Madhesh provinces, will see generally cloudy conditions, and the Terai will remain partly cloudy.

Moderate rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder, lightning, wind, and hail, are likely in some hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In view of these conditions, the Division has urged the public and relevant authorities to remain alert to possible rain, snowfall, and strong winds, particularly in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as parts of other provinces. The Division has also advised people to stay updated with the latest weather information.
