Bishnu Paudel dismisses poll projections as ‘misguided’, claims UML will emerge first in Lumbini

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Vice Chair Bishnu Paudel has claimed that certain election projections circulated in some media outlets and on social media are driven by wrong intentions and do not reflect ground realities.

Speaking at an interaction program with journalists affiliated to Press Chautari in Butwal, Paudel said that projections targeting Rupandehi Constituency No. 2 and other parts of the country were systematically disseminated but lack factual basis.

He maintained that authentic projections from credible national and international institutions would be made public in the coming days.

“Various projections have been floated based on ‘settings’. However, they are neither realistic nor evidence-based. The situation on the ground is vastly different, and those projections will fail,” Paudel said. “Voters here have already made up their minds to ensure UML’s victory. It will be very difficult to alter that mindset.”

He added that discussions could be held later on whether such projections should be made public, but stressed that reliable national and international agencies have not produced misleading narratives like those currently circulating.

Without directly criticizing rival parties or candidates, Paudel asserted that the UML remains the central force of national politics and cannot be prevented from emerging as the largest party.

He expressed confidence that the UML would secure a majority and emerge as the leading party in both Rupandehi district, which has five constituencies, and Lumbini Province, which comprises 26 constituencies.

“After the election, UML will become the pivot of national politics and sit in the driving seat of the country,” he said. “Voters are already clear about the baseless propaganda spread against UML. There is public trust in completing unfinished projects and implementing new aspirations.”

Former Finance Minister Paudel also said that regardless of rumors of conspiracies, voters would ultimately choose their representatives based on concrete plans and past performance.
