194 polling stations in Dhanusha classified as highly sensitive ahead of elections

DHANUSHA: The District Administration Office (DAO), Dhanusha, has classified 194 polling stations in the district as highly sensitive ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives election.

Out of 322 polling stations in Dhanusha, 194 have been designated highly sensitive, 106 as sensitive, and 22 as normal. The district has a total of 645 voting centers, according to the DAO.

Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel said the categorization was based on election security assessments, considering factors such as the open Nepal-India border, increased voter turnout, and issues observed during previous elections. He added that 10 to 12 security personnel will be deployed at each polling center.

Under the CDO’s leadership, security chiefs conducted monitoring of highly sensitive polling stations, particularly those near the border, to ensure preparedness.

The Madhesh Province Election Office said Dhanusha has 514,571 registered voters across four constituencies, including 276,126 males, 238,435 females, and 10 voters from gender and sexual minorities.

A total of 6,500 staff will be deployed for election management, with their details currently being finalized. For the House election in Dhanusha, 142 candidates are contesting: 34 in constituency no. 2, 45 in constituency no. 3, and 37 in constituency no. 4.
