Kathmandu records initial minimum temperature at 4°C



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley experienced a chilly morning today, with meteorologists recording the initial minimum temperature in the early hours.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was measured at 4.0 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Tuesday).

At the same time yesterday (Monday), the minimum temperature stood at 3.7 degrees Celsius and later dropped slightly to 3.5 degrees Celsius at 8:45 am.

The official minimum temperature for today is measured at 8:45 am. There is a possibility that the temperature could fall further compared to the initial reading.

The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature is measured at 8:45 am, while the maximum temperature is recorded at 5:45 pm. The minimum temperature refers to the lowest temperature recorded in a day, while the maximum temperature is the highest.

According to meteorologists, cloudy skies at night tend to keep morning minimum temperatures higher, whereas clear skies allow temperatures to drop further. Conversely, during the day, maximum temperatures remain lower under cloudy conditions and rise when the sky is clear and sunshine is strong.
