CHITWAN: The Narayani River has crossed its warning level following rainfall since Thursday.
According to the Narayani Basin Office in Chitwan, the water level has reached 8.30 meters. Office chief Sumit Adhikari said the river’s flow is continuing to rise and urged residents in riverside areas to remain alert.
The warning level for the Narayani River is 7.30 meters, while the danger level is 9 meters. Adhikari said the river could reach the danger level if further rainfall occurs and urged residents to remain cautious.
Although the river has crossed the warning level, water has not yet entered settlements along the riverbanks. “There is a possibility of major flooding if it rains again,” Adhikari said.
Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said residents living in riverside areas have been advised to stay in safe locations. He said security agencies are on standby for immediate rescue operations, while information dissemination and other preparedness measures are underway.
