BIRGUNJ: The second general convention of the Janamat Party, originally scheduled for September 25 and 26 in Birgunj, has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 3, due to continuous rainfall and forecasts of heavy to very heavy rain in the coming days.
Party spokesperson Chandan Singh said the convention, which was to be held at the Town Hall in Birgunj, was postponed in view of possible difficulties in the travel and management of delegates, leaders, and well-wishers arriving from different parts of the country because of the adverse weather.
Singh said the schedule was changed after considering the safety and convenience of participants.
According to a press release issued by the party, preparations for the convention had already been completed. However, the party decided to reschedule the event due to the adverse weather forecast and concerns over the safe and smooth movement of participants.
Earlier, the party had begun registering candidacies for various central positions, including the chairperson, as part of preparations for the second general convention.
The convention will now be held in Birgunj on October 3 according to the revised schedule.
