KATHMANDU: The death toll from the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa has reached 14, with 14 bodies recovered so far from the flood-affected areas.
According to Bagmati Province Police, the bodies were recovered from riverbanks and surrounding areas in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading during ongoing search and rescue operations.
Deepak Regmi, deputy inspector general and chief of the Bagmati Province Police Office in Hetauda, said search and rescue efforts were continuing across the affected areas. He said rapidly flowing floodwaters have made the operation challenging, with authorities prioritizing searches along riverbanks and other high-risk areas.
At least 19 people injured in the floods have also been rescued and taken to various hospitals for treatment, Regmi said. The floods have caused extensive damage to settlements and infrastructure along the riverbanks in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
Nepal Police and other security agencies have been mobilized to search for missing people, rescue those stranded and assist affected communities. Authorities are continuing to collect information to assess the full extent of the damage.
