KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently affecting Nepal, while the monsoon trough is positioned near its average location, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
The mountainous and hilly regions of the country are currently generally cloudy. The Terai areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces are also generally cloudy, while the remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
According to the Division, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as at some places in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The weather bulletin issued by the Division states that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in many parts of the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and in some parts of the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely in some parts of the Terai areas of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in some parts of the Terai areas of Sudurpaschim Province. Heavy rainfall is likely in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces and at one or two places in the hilly areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Similarly, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country tonight. Moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely in many parts of the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and in some parts of the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Some parts of the Terai region are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Heavy rainfall is likely in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi Province and at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
The Division has urged people to take necessary precautions in areas at risk of heavy rainfall, as flash floods, floods, landslides and soil erosion are possible. The rainfall may also affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road transportation and air services. The division has advised all concerned to remain updated with the latest weather information.
