Five leaders back Bipin for RSP General Secretary

CHITWAN: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to enter the election process after efforts to reach a consensus on the selection of office bearers failed.

According to the RSP statute, two vice-chairs, one general secretary, and three joint general secretaries are to be elected. Accordingly, Swarnim Wagle has been elected unopposed as vice-chair.

Of the eight candidates who had filed nominations for the post of general secretary, four have withdrawn their candidacies in support of Bipin Acharya. In addition, Shishir Khanal, who did not file his candidacy, has also expressed support for Acharya.

Those who withdrew their candidacies are Kavindra Burlakoti, Ganesh Parajuli, Jagdish Kharel, and Pramod Neupane.

Acharya is considered a close aide of RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane. He previously served as the party’s joint general secretary.
