PM Shah says he is fully aware of his responsibilities

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Balendra Shah has said that he is fully aware of the responsibility entrusted to him as head of government.

Speaking at a joint meeting with resident and non-resident ambassadors of European Union (EU) member countries at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Tuesday, Prime Minister Shah said his government is committed to improving the living standards of Nepali citizens.

“Being new does not mean being completely separated from the past. We are fully committed to protecting democratic values and maintaining political stability by ensuring that Nepal’s policy direction remains clear, stable, and predictable,” he said.

Prime Minister Shah added that the government aims to leverage global markets to create new opportunities for citizens, while promoting innovation and sustainable development through simplified procedures designed to attract large-scale investment.

He also reiterated that Nepal will continue to follow a balanced and pragmatic foreign policy, adding that efforts are underway to strengthen cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, green energy, climate change, tourism, and others.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah noted that civilians are bearing the greatest burden as conflicts continue in different parts of the world, stressing that dialogue, diplomacy, and international law must be prioritized over military confrontation to ensure lasting peace.

Ambassadors from EU countries based in Kathmandu and New Delhi, along with other diplomats, appreciated Nepal for conducting peaceful elections. They also congratulated Prime Minister Shah on leading a new government with a mandate focused on good governance, economic development, and prosperity.

The diplomats expressed readiness to further cooperate with and invest in Nepal across various sectors to support economic growth and national development.
